Is ironing newspapers and post a good idea?

Am a 70+ mum (two 30+ sons, no longer kids, and elsewhere), so having everything delivered (that's another story of course). Might ironing newspaper etc. help kill covid-19? Can't find anything online - but would be practical solution for many if it makes sense. Notable lack of practical tips from those privately-educated blokes in charge, hence to mumsnet 😉

easier solution - leave it on the doormat for 24 hours or so. All a bit guesswork but makes us feel better.

and perhaps stop the newspaper?

Could stop the newspaper obviously, but trying our best to support local businesses to keep them afloat. Bad enough for the corner shop, just along the road, that I can't get there for general supplies as usual.

Wear disposable gloves to pick up or pick them up then wash hands after use and sanitize the area they were on.
