How do you clean remote controls?

My TV remote controls have never been properly cleaned and the bits around the buttons are now quite dirty. How do you clean yours? I’m just a bit worried about using wet wipes or water because I don’t want any water to get under the buttons and break them!

Antibac spray on a cloth.

Zoflora/dettol or flash on a cloth and wipe them over once a week

Cleaning spray on a cotton bud.

Cleaning wipes. I know some say they are the work of the devil but they are quite thin and get in between the buttons well. Mine aren’t dirty just probably hoaching with invisible bacteria. Grin

Antibac and a toothbrush. Take the batteries out, give the toothbrush a spray, scrub away until clean. Give the toothbrush a good rinse, use it damp for a finish up scrub. Leave the remote buttons-down in the airing cupboard or somewhere warm for a day before using.

I think there would be a revolt in my house if we did that, as we watch telly every day! Grin I like the toothbrush idea though, to get in between all the fiddly bits.

In the end I used some anti-bacterial cleaning stuff I bought to clean my laptop keyboard, which worked well.

Doesn't anyone worry about getting liquid under the keys and breaking the remote?

Always done mine by spaying antibacterial on a snap cloth and wiping over it.

Wonder if I will be the only person reading this who thought, ‘Oh, a snap cloth. I am such a slattern to have no idea what a snap cloth is. They are obviously cutting edge cleaning technology’ Blush

Before wiping remotes or laptops I use the nozzle attachment in my vacuum cleaner on the lowest power setting. Very good for removing crumbs.

Wipe with a cloth dipped in diluted bleach (one:10).

Also anti bac on a clothnettie I have no idea either. Waits to be enlightened.🤔

Alcohol wipes. I used them before they were trendy. Grin
That or neat vodka on a rag.
