Washing sofa covers

I’ve got a DFS sofa that has removable zippered covers. Tempted to wash them on a cool wash in the machine. Anyone done this? Will I ruin them?

I could do with washing ours. I was thinking a delicate wash at 20deg, but the last thing I want to do is shrink the covers.

I'm watching this thread as would love to wash mine but terrified I won't be able to get the covers back on as they are very tight.

Do they have labels with care instructions? Our ikea ones do, I wash them about twice a year. They wash up great.

DFS told us not to do this as it ruins them

We got our sofa from dfs and can't wash it in the washing machine without permanently ruining the fire retardant stuff (sorry can't remember what it's properly called!) so I wash our sofa by hand. Might be worth checking the label first op. Smile

Label said do not wash but I thought I’d chance it and do one of the seat covers that’s usually covered by a throw. 30 degree quick wash and it’s come out beautifully. I’m going to do the rest tomorrow

You could try and do it on a very cool wash 30 degree, I would but straight back on the cushion so it drys on the cushion and does not shrink.

Just to update I hung the cover over radiator until it was almost dry and then put it back on. It went back on with no more struggle than it took to get it off. It looks VERY clean compared to the other covers (pale light blue/grey colour) and smells lovely.
