My dcs are at the age that they come home and pretty much get on with stuff themselves. We have an au pair but frankly she is bored rigid in that her only jobs in relation to the children are checking they get home on time and putting dinner on the table for them (she has other light housekeeping duties like laundry). I also have a cleaner and an ironing lady.
I am beginning to think that what I need is someone who comes to the house for 3-4 hours each afternoon to do household stuff (including laundry, cleaning and ironing), cooks dinner for the dcs and checks they get home when they are supposed to.
Does anyone have such a set up? Is this a housekeeper role (or, if not, how would you describe it)? Any idea on hourly rates (in comparison to nanny/cleaner/ironing lady rates i.e. higher or lower than each of those?).
If anyone has such a set up I'd be interested to know if it works - i.e. someone doing cleaning, ironing etc whilst the dcs are doing their homework.
