Does anyone have dark wood flooring?

Dh wants to get it for our living room but I think its going to show up all the dust and scratches and with 2 lo's there will be a lot.

What does it wear like?

Ours is Walnut coloured so darker that beach/pine type flooring and I really love it. The scratches do show slightly more but it has been down for 6 years nearly and is still looking good. I should add that in that time we have had two more children and it has had countless things pushed, pulled and dropped on it. If you like it and look after it properly then why not?

our floors are dark - they do show up more dirt and mess so I wash them more often ( not a bad thing!)

one of our rooms has darker stained floorboards- they do show up the dust and spills etc more than lighter floorboards ime.

They also make the room look quite dark. I regret having ours done dark tbh (am waiting for a suitable moment to break the news to dh that I have changed my mind about them )

if you are so am I. we have got light wood at the moment and it's the same although I have been told dark is worse.

We have american black walnut ! It looks stunning but its laquered (mistake) as when it scratches it shows up as white (depite being solid wood and costing an absoulte bloody fortune) The scratches do fade as the laquer wears down but are still visible
I would do it again but get a different finish !

It was a laquered cherry/walnutty colour the DH chose. I deliberatly scratched it to see how bad it looked and the scratches did look white.

Weve got a oak one at the moment and need to take it up due to water damage. I know that they gather loads of dust and ours seems to need washing every few days so I assumed a darker one would be worse.

They do look nice though
