Need a routine any advice?

I am at home with 3 kids 9, 6 and 20 mths. I am setting up my own business and finding the housework a nightmare. tbh it was before i set this up so thats no excuse! Anyone have a fool proof rountine for being organised and on top of the housework?

You need to give us the bones of your current routine
Morning time, bed time, meal times nap times. Also which chores do you need to do?

haha there are no bones of my routine lol
breakfast, kids off to school, try and tidy up ella has a nap about half ten till half twelve where i try and iron then feed her tidy up mess she then makes, kids from school, tidy up mess they make tea time about 5 for kids hubby works funny hours so we east as and when bed about half seven followed by 35 million trips up and downstairs kids and us (im trying to stop this!) start to tidy but feel deflated and depressed so end up watching tv and going to bed.

Kimellajoe - Your routine sounds just like mine. My house is like big bomb hit it. 4 kids here and house is impossible to organise or keep tidy. I find clothes are the biggest prob.

So you do have a basic routine to start from.

To make life easier though, don't iron and make sure you buy easy care clothes. But do use that early time to get the laundry where it should be and beds made etc.

Is it time you need or motivation? I know I've all the time I need but, like you, I'd rather spend it doing other things. (like mn). Perhaps that's what we should be tackling first.

Mrs M - I need motivation too as I just give up cos im getting nowhere. I am new to mumsnet so cant blame that! I have easy care clothes but still need to iron hubby has formal shirts and trousers everyday for work (ugh) i constantly have loads of washing and ironing! Can you not get liitle fairies to do it in the middle of the night from somewhere? lol

Just spotted you have a 9 year old. I've got one too - can you get him / her to help out?

I get my dh's work shirts ironed at my local ironing shop. Apart from that, and a few of my shirts/dd's skirts, nothing is ironed in this house. Nothing by me (but then I hate ironing).

MrsM Joe is good and he does "tidy" his room and the lounge but I still have to hoover/mop and clean the bathroom etc and the laundry is my biggest problem. I know half my battle is I dont put things away when I have done with them and feel dis-heartened when no one else does but if I am not setting the example then I cant moan (although i do daily!) I can spend hours getting the house looking great then when it starts getting untidy (about an hour later) i feel like whats the point?

To be honest Kimellajoe I have reaslied that I am missing the 'organisational' gene. I was born without it in my brain! When I get up in the morning and get down stairs, I take a look around and then my brain shuts down. I wander around like a headless chicken trying to figure out where to start tidying/cleaning and after spending the day tidying/cleaning by the end of the day I have done nothing?? Maybe I live in the Twilight Zone. Maybe its not my brain at all
