when cleaners steal...

How on earth do you approach them?

I am using my mum's cleaner, and young girl. Been fine with my mum for a few years but my mum always cleans along with her.

I on the other hand, go out with my toddler and trust her to clean. When she first started, I noticed a couple of my pregnancy tests were missing (had about 7 in the cupboard)
Then, last week, couldnt find some diamante earrings...
Im not 100% sure, but pretty certain they were in my jewelry box.
How do you deal with this?

thankyou x

Nothing until you are 100% sure.

Then I'd just do my own cleaning

i had this with a cleaner
basically i had a necklace which was on my dressing table when i left and then not there when i got back
i approached her very non-confontationally and asked her had she seen it - no accusing etc
she was very upset - turns out it had dropped behind my bed after she moved it to clean
so as FF says don't tackle until you are sure and from my experience i second that!

Agree with FF. My eternity ring went missing, from the place where I KNEW I'd put it. I couldn't think of any other explanation than that my cleaner had half-inched it. She was new, via an agency, so I didn't 'know' her. Too embarrassed to ask her if she'd seen it (daft, I know) and she left a few weeks after anyway. Convinced she had it. This was a year ago and I've just found the damn ring! It was somewhere completely different... I am so glad I didn't accuse her but still kicking myself that I didn't ask her if she'd seen it.

I know in offices people always blame the poor cleaners, and feel that's very unfair.

Be really really sure. Try asking her (in person, notes always get misinterpreted) if she has seen them anywhere. DH lost a cufflink last week and after turning everything upsidedown we found it in the hoover bag (cleaners had just been). I am a little that they didn't notice, but given the general state of the carpet I can see how it could have happened.
