Help me choose a corded vacuum please!

Currently have an upright hoover which is on its last legs, looking at the upright Dyson's but I'm confused about which one - animal ball/small ball/light ball...so many to choose from, then there are other brands too!

What vacuum do you have? Would you recommend it? If you were to buy a Vacuum tomorrow what would you buy?

I'm not keen on the idea of cordless stick ones as I'm sure they would be great at first but not convinced the charge/battery would last over the years as long as the corded ones!

Henry. Every time.

WobbleTime · 09/02/2020 21:43

I’ve just bought a shark one from curry’s on sale for £199. It has lift away so you can do the stairs. Pretty good so far (I’ve only just got it)!

lauryloo · 09/02/2020 21:47

Henry. He's the best one I've had

Paperdolly · 09/02/2020 21:56

Shark Liftaway is the best one I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few different types including Dyson and Henry. I love my Shark as it’s so versatile!

Thanks! I've just been looking at Henry! Hadn't considered it before, but am I right that it uses disposable bags?

I think I'd rather stick with a bagless option, mainly as I can't imagine the bags being great for the environment ( happy to be corrected here if they are recyclable ? )

Shark corded one. Recommended by my cleaner who cleans in mostly fancy houses with fancy stuff. Under £200 and I paid for it in instalments on amazon so I never even had to go to a shop!

Gemz1806 · 09/02/2020 23:53

Henry is great but from my experience gets smelly. I have a Dyson ball and it's heavy, good suction and long cord but tricky doing the stairs. I have a few friends with the shark lift away and they love it. That will be our next vacuum. Not sure that helps much! ☺️

UltimateIrritant · 09/02/2020 23:55

I hate my Henry, it gets tangled in the cord and falls over at the drop of a hat. Good at sucking up wet spills though, but how often do you have to do that?

RainbowMum11 · 10/02/2020 00:10

Shark - it's amazing

RainbowMum11 · 10/02/2020 00:15

Used to have a Henry and it was labour intensive and not versatile and awkward to manoeuvre.
Then had a cordless vax which just didn't have great suction.
Now got the Shark lift away and it's so versatile- dead easy to use for lamp shades, skirting boards, cobwebs, soft furnishings as was as brilliant for carpets and hard flooring (even glitter from a tiled floor!!), plus it has anti hair wrap thing which is really helpful as me & my dd have long hair so doesn't get tangled around the brush.
I have asked friends who are cleaners and friends who are just really clean at home and all recommended Shark and I haven't been disappointed at all.

eternalopt · 10/02/2020 00:28

Another vote for the shark lift away. So versatile and so powerful

Gemz1806 · 10/02/2020 00:40

To back the shark up, one of my friends got hers from Argos ( I'm not a fan of Argos but that's my issue) cheaper than direct and she has has no problems much to my dismay as I abjected and was ignored to be proven right (unfortunately) Blush

coffeeforone · 10/02/2020 08:38

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'm going to go with the Shark Lift Away!! Not sure why I was so fixated on Dyson. I do wonder why John Lewis don't stock it though (I had vouchers I wanted to use!)

I hated the Henry. And got a shark that was rubbish: kept having to get new bits sent and it couldn’t cope with dog hair.

I then got a Miele one in instalments from Amazon and it’s brilliant. Highly recommended

EllyDellgato · 11/02/2020 10:34

I'd recommend a Moosoo, I've been using it forever, it's super reliable

Shark is ace! Got one with the liftaway. I can't believe how much dust the bloody useless Henry had left in the carpets.

TheSandman · 11/02/2020 13:10

Henry.

Look at any commercial cleaner's cupboard - hotels, hospitals and the like and there's a Henry in there. For a very good reason.
