Best vacuum cleaner for long hair?

Heheh, now I'm thinking of those YouTube videos where people suck their hair into ponytails using a hoover!

Right, sorry. Serious problem here. We go through vacuum cleaners like nobody's business and I'm sick to death of it. I have long hair and the initial problem was that it always got caught in the rotating brush bit. Even when I tried to stay on top of cleaning the brush bit regularly to remove the hair, the upright hoovers never seem to last long.

Next, I tried a bagless, brushless hoover, not an upright. I can't think of the word, sorry, but it has a long hose and is great for the stairs etc. Although that too has packed up and no longer has any suction. Again, I was on top of emptying the cylinder and cleaning the filter.

I've tried ones that are for houses with pets.

I'm so fed up! I currently have to sweep our bedroom carpet with a dustpan and brush! What do you recommend?

We use the new Shark Hoover and it’s amazing ! Highly recommend (I have long hair and it gets everywhere). I had a Dyson before and it never picked my hair up it used to get tangled in the wheel bit. Highly recommend Shark

Shark with the anti hair wrap.

Watching with interest as I have the same issue!

I haven't found a hair friendly hoover but I use a rubber window squeegee bit from my Muji cleaning system (basically different mop/duster/cleaning attachments that fit on different size/telescopic handles) to quickly "sweep" the carpet first. It pulls the hair off the carpet fibres and there is nothing on the squeegee for them to get tangled on. A rubber glove would work too but that means getting down on your knees.

Shark anti hair wrap it's amazing and no longer need to untangle the roller in the vacuum

Shark dual lift away with anti hair wrap has been a godsend compared to our useless dyson!

I have the same probably me and my daughter both have long thick hair that seems to malt everywhere , have had my hetty hoover for about 9 years now and still going strong !

Hmmm, I shall have to investigate this Shark Anti Hair Wrap business! Thank you. I had been wondering about a Henry or Hetty too, so thanks @emelsie, that's interesting.

I can't do much kneeling as I've got a dodgy knee (that's a whole other grumble, lol) but these options all sound promising.

rubber broom and longhandled dustpan before vacuuming carpets.
Rubber glove over soft furnishings. Cat and long hair mean lots of hairs everywhere.

I totally agree with @NameChange84, @2beautifulbabs, @elc19

I myself got caught with the same problem, not long ago. Was totally frustrated. Did a bit research on my own kinda frustrated. Surprisingly, Shark came up with a solution. They call it Zero M tech. You may check the link to know more about how the Zero M works against hair wrap.

Dyson also has an extension to solve this but that one is not that effective.
