Marks/stains on wool

Can anyone advise the best way to remove make up marks from a wool jumper. Thanks

Rub some Waitrose or Persil delicates wash liquid on it, leave for a few minutes. Pour a capful of Ace stain remover, put some of it on the stain and rub it in, leave 1-2 minutes. Wash as usual.

This is probably me being over cautious but I wouldn't rub anything in, just dab it. I'm way too scared of felting it
