the softener compartment on my washing machine keeps clogging

Mine doesn't clog but is getting lined with a revolting looking scum You have my sympathies

Do you use concentrated softener? We had this problem and when we switched to the non-concentrated stuff it stopped happening (tip from my MIL)

Mine used to do that it turns out the little pipe that comes down from washing machine into softener drawer was blocked, as was the tube that was on the bottom of the insert that goes into the fabric compartment (does that make sense?). Quick poke with a barbecue skewer sorted it out though. Also I was using way too much fabric softener

I had this with mine. The washing machine Engineer replaced it but told me that in future I should take out the drawer, spray all over the space inside with a bleach kitchen cleaner, leave it for 1/2 hour, then do an empty hot wash. He said to do this once a month. So far so good - it hasn't clogged since.

Mine does this. It's covered in that horrific black slimy stuff as well. I find an old toothbrush poked upwards into the holes that are blocked with the slimy stuff helps.

Just to get even more tedious , what make of washing machine is it? Mine's a Bosch. It never happened with my previous washing machine (hotpoint, i think).
