Best Upright vacuum for carpet?

23 replies

Paddingtonthebear · 20/01/2020 14:56

I have a cylinder Miele c3 but we have a lot of carpet at home and I find it very hard work on that. I don’t want to give James Dyson any money so a Dyson is out. Preferably I want an upright this time around, probably cordless as they are more powerful and last longer. No stairs at home so not bothered about that. Any suggestions?

I have a Shark and I love it.

Molecule · 20/01/2020 15:17

I second a Shark. Utterly brilliant.

Whitney168 · 20/01/2020 15:19

Third the Shark. Can't believe how much cleaner my rug is looking since we got it.

I've just bought a corded shark to replace my upright dyson . I also have the newest cordless dyson.. the shark is so much better .. it even has lights !!

DameXanaduBramble · 20/01/2020 15:26

Shark!

Forestwitch · 20/01/2020 15:28

I'm a domestic cleaner and as many of my clients have pets, I end up using their hoovers and so far my favorite is a Shark!
So easy and light to use compared to the bulky Dysons.

Debo Felix. They aren't bagless but are brilliant and have hospital grade filters in so reduce allergies too. I can vacuum with my days on then go over it with the second and the difference is amazing.

Bloomburger · 20/01/2020 15:34

Debo = Sebo

Done = Dyson

Second = Sebo

Bloody autocorrect 🙄

Which Shark?

We had a shark rocket a couple of years ago and it was great to start with but started losing suction. Then my husband accidentally killed it with water but that’s another story.

Our local John Lewis has an ex display Sebo x7 reduced to £220 I think. It looked very heavy and cumbersome though

This one I think , it has a pet attachment which is very good for fluffy cats

Out of stock 😏

In stock at Curry’s and Argos, and no doubt some other retailers.

oohnicevase · 20/01/2020 19:17

I got mine in the sale from Argos .. they sell them in loads of places.

Paddingtonthebear · 20/01/2020 20:26

Ah ok thanks!

Also qvc sell them and you. Ah send it back if you don't like it . I nearly did that but my friend got one and I tried hers .

EllyDellgato · 26/01/2020 13:54

This is by far the best one I could find, always reliable an normally £300 but I found one on sale, you're welcome

I bought a Sebo in the end. Pricey but apparently the best vacuum available and looks like it will last a lifetime. if it’s good enough for Buckingham palace it’s good enough for me Grin

Person in Curry’s told me they get more Sharks returned than anything else. And the sheer number of Secondhand Dysons for sale locally online also put me off.

We have the Shark Liftaway corded. I really rate it.

We had a corded Dyson and a Henry in the past and the Shark is far superior.

Goldwispa · 26/01/2020 19:48

Sebo upright

Ojk90 · 26/01/2020 19:50

Vax is great and also shark I heard is great

Paddingtonthebear · 26/01/2020 20:27

The shark we had was good.. at first.. then lost suction. This seems a common complaint, they are amazing at first but don’t last long.
