We have 3 huge bags full of plastic bags from the shop that have been in the cupboard for years. Today I've been to Morrisons, Sainsburys and Tesco and none of them have it. I'm in Edinburgh if that helps.

My local Sainsbury's have a recycling bin for plastic bags not sure if all Sainsbury's have it though

Mycatisthebest · 10/01/2020 17:53

Sorry just saw you mentioned Sainsbury's Blush

isabellerossignol · 10/01/2020 17:54

My local Lidl takes plastic bags. Don't know if they all do obviously but might be worth a try?

missmouse101 · 10/01/2020 18:04

Give them to a charity shop. They are glad of them to use at the till!

bookgirl1982 · 10/01/2020 18:05

Ocado will give you 5p per bag

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 10/01/2020 18:54

Strange. I'm in Perth and every Tesco and in Dundee collects them.

Fartlek · 10/01/2020 23:29

I will have to venture beyond my local shops I guess. We're clearing the house to get it rewired so I could do without drive all over hell's half acre just to recycle bags. I thought about just binning them but I feel too guilty.

Use them up as bin liners?

FruityWidow · 11/01/2020 00:30

Ocado will take any bags with the delivery.

simonisnotme · 11/01/2020 17:56

as^^ use them as binliners

MrsJoshNavidi · 11/01/2020 18:22

I agree with the charity shop suggestion.

raspberrymolakoff · 11/01/2020 18:43

I agree re charity shops too. I've taken in loads of stuff before. It the thing they're most pleased with is bags. Our local coop and Waitrose also both have recycle bins for them. If you do home delivery with Ocado or Tesco you can hand the man your bins and get some pence bag per bag.

megletthesecond · 11/01/2020 18:48

Or give them to a local litter picking group? They'll be put to good use.
Or buy your own litter picker and tidy up your local area?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/01/2020 18:49

Ocado buy them for 5p each. Bargain.

QuestionableMouse · 11/01/2020 18:50

Ocado don't deliver everywhere.

I give mine to my local charity shop.

randomsabreuse · 12/01/2020 14:37

I was going to say Ocado, or Morrison's- they pay 5p/bag which is nice.

HappyAsASandboy · 12/01/2020 14:54

Do an online shop with Ocado. The delivery driver will take all of your bags away, and they'll deduct 5p off your shopping bill for each bag Smile

Ocado recycle the bags.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 12/01/2020 15:02

Could your nearest school take them? We never have enough bags for accidents, falls into muddy puddles, exploding water bottles, etc., and we’d be really grateful for them.

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 12/01/2020 15:04

Our local food bank always welcomes donations of plastic bags for clients to use when collecting their food.

SecretNutellaFix · 12/01/2020 15:12

Our big Tesco has the carrier bag recycling in the front foyer, tucked between 2 pillars. Easy to miss.

Last time i built up a sizeable amount, we took them to one of the charity shops with some other donations. We were going to only give them one bag of the bags, and bring the others to 2 others, but when they saw them in the boot, asked if they could have the lot.
It would have seemed churlish to have refused so everyone was happy.

Charity shops.
