Ideas for hallway cupboard with toddler access

I have cleared a decent cupboard space and am trying to think what to do to make it suitable to school storage when the boys get there. No idea where to start. It's a decent space. They're currently nearly two and just turned 3.

I'm guessing coat hooks. One for bag, one for coats? More? Basket for shoes. Anything I'm not thinking of? I was thinking of adding a lower shelf so I can have one space for shoes and one space for scarves, gloves, etc.

Don't really know where to start

Lose yourself on Pinterest with photos of understairs storage.

Never enough hooks.

I was thinking two hooks per child, and two baskets each?

I didn't know what to search for on pinterest so thanks for the tip. I was looking but couldn't find exactly what I needed

Mine have at least 2 coats and generally a hoody or similar under there plus school bag plus one other bag usually knocking around so I'd go for 3 hooks per child if you've got the space.

Once you add swimming kit, PE kit, football / rugby / gymnastics etc it gets very full

@FusionChefGeoff fair point. I didn't account for stuff like that as they get older. They do gymnastics but just wear leggings so there's no kit as such. But they could probably do with swim kit being hung there. That'll make my life easier. I think there could be space. It's not massive and only the bottom half of the cupboard so probably won't fit long teenage coats. Hopefully we'll have moved by then though
