Help. I bought some of the chilled mussels in Lidl yesterday and threw them in the freezer with my other shopping not thinking
It says not suitable for home freezing.
Will they be ok to eat if I defrost in the fridge for a few hours. They been frozen previously according to the packet

I wouldn’t risk it

I fearlessly freeze all sorts of things you're not meant to freeze (and re- freeze things I've defrosted) and have been doing so for decades with no ill consequences. I'd use them. I hate food waste.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to vehemently disagree.

Myth: You can't refreeze frozen food

Refreezing food isn’t dangerous. The danger is that food can spoil before it’s refrozen

For most foods I wouldn’t worry, but definitely would never ever risk it with shellfish

I bought new ones. Didn't fancy my chances Grin
