Used my soapnuts

I'm very impressed - ok, there were no stains or anything to get out (beach towels etc), but it has come out feeling really soft! They aren't dry yet, but it feels like a fabric softener wash than a non iyswim.

What are they like for nappies?

I'm assuming they don't take the colour out of anything, but that they don't make whites bright either?

yes, they dont have optical brightners aka bleach so wont harm your colours but they wont give you white whites either

assume you could add somne ecover bleach for your whites?

Think I will get them to use for the nappies and coloureds (I am assuming that it eliminates the issue of build up with nappies), but keep normal powder for my whites - I am very obsessive about my whites

I washed my napies with soapnuts but they still smelt funny afterwards, of that ammonia smell with too much build up. They don't smell like that when I wash with liquid detergent, only after she has soaked them!

Let me know how it works and I might try again (I use mostly fluffles)

I use them on nappies, no problems so far

Chirpygirl · 26/08/2007 13:51

What sort of nappies do you use Wallace? I wasn't sure if it was the fluffles or if it was me being rubbish!

FlameBatfink · 26/08/2007 19:44

I did today's batch with the soapnuts - will see how they smell later

I use terries. I haven't ben using soapnuts for very long. Next time I do a load of nappies I will have a good sniff I also have a fluffle I use occasionally at night, so I will try that too.

Oh just thought - before I got soapnuts I used to ewash the nappies with tea tree oil. I usually still pop a wee bit in a rinse before the main cycle so maybe that stops them smelling?
