Candle wax in carpet

Has anyone successfully removed candle wax from a carpet? I scrapped off as much as I could when it first happened but there's still some showing and it's not attracting other dirt to it so it's showing up even more and it's right in the middle of the living room floorConfused I've read about using an iron and brown paper, but I'm not brave enough to try this in case it melts the carpet! Anyone have any success?

Definitely the brown paper and iron. Fold the paper a couple of times if you're worried and keep the iron moving. The heat melts the wax, the paper absorbs it.

It will be fine, not too hot with the iron. Kitchen roll works well if you don't have brown paper.

If you're worried about using an iron put a very hot, hot water bottle on top of the paper.

Freeze with ice cube and scrape off as much as possible.
Then a slightly warm not hot iron and brown parcel paper or kitchen roll. Strong kitchen roll in three or four thicknesses is probably the most absorbent.
If you’re not brave enough for an iron use a hair dryer with a cloth with some warm carpet cleaner on it. Circle inwards to avoid spreading.

Is it sad that I keep checking to see if there's an update? Perhaps even with a before and after photo. OP?

Sorry sorry I didn't get notifications I'd had responses so I hadn't checked back! Reading your suggestions I'm more confident it'll work so I'll give it a go in the next few days and post and before and after just do you Lamentations Smile
