Electric Fan Oven won't switch on!

Hi everyone

Just wanted to find out if anyone knew what could be wrong with my oven. When I switch it on from the mains switch, nothing happens, the display at the front won't even come on. We changed the he fuse in the plug but that hasn't made a difference.

I don't know what to do as it's so close to Xmas and I really can't afford to pay for a repair. Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks.

Oh no! We had a problem last Christmas with the oven temperature fluctuating and had to buy a new stove. We were getting a new kitchen and had to adjust the plans too. Cost us more money but pleased with the result.

Sorry someone on phone. Can't offer any help except do you have any friends that are electricians?

do you have the manual? maybe there is a fuse for just the display that needs to be replaced?

WrongKindOfFace · 20/12/2019 12:09

Have you checked the fuse box? If the fuse in the plug went it could have tripped the fuse box. Or can you plug something else into that socket and check if it’s the socket or the cooker?

the cooker should be on it's own circuit. are you sure you are looking at the right fuse switch?

Have you checked the main fuse board? Usually the cooker will be on its own circuit breaker which may have tripped and need resetting.

Is your cooker wired into the switch socket or is it plugged in with a normal plug (I think they are usually wired in but if it's on an actual plug there will be a fuse in the plug as well as one in the fused socket if that makes sense?)

i had problems and it was to do with the clock not working, therefore the oven wouldnt work. If you turn off power to the clock - which is an electrical matter - then you may find the oven keeps going. Mine's done a further 18 months.

We had a power cut and thought the oven had broken - but it was our failure to reset the clock after the power cut that was the cause. When I set the clock again the oven started working again.
