Tumble dryer in spare bedroom, anyone done this?

Planning a kitchen refurb for the worlds tiniest kitchen and I'm wondering about putting the dryer upstairs in the spare room so theres room in the kitchen for a dishwasher. As I need a new dryer I can go for any sort...

Anyone done this, any tips? Any pitfalls? What sort of dryer do you have?
Thanks

Yes why not! Although I would put it there with the washing machine and in a tall cupboard out of sight. There are definitely benefits to doing you washing in the first floor so you don't have to schlep clothes up and down the stairs.

Yes, I have done this in two different places,it's fine .

I hadnt thought about moving the washer...but we have a wall mounted boiler up there, so I am thinking that the tumble dryer can go under that with a cupboard round them. Washer would make it too tall.

Thanks both!!

I have my vented one in my bedroom and previously had it in the spare room, when I had one. Been doing this since 2012 and it's fine.

We rejigged our airing cupboard to make space for a condenser dryer and a couple of shelves. It's been a game changer

Yes, it was fine. The spare bedroom smelled of clean laundry but that was no bother.

Mine is in a bedroom and vented out of the window when I use it. I clean the upstairs when it's on though so it's supervised. It works quite well and definitely has the bonus of just being able to put away when done without stairs.

I know a woman who has her washing machine and tumble dryer in her bathroom. Clothes off and straight in the wash. Genius idea!

I am not sure there could be anything nicer! I guess the only thing to bear in mind if you move the washing machine (not so much the dryer) upstairs is that the floor is strong enough because kitchens usually have tiled/concrete floors. It’s just really the same as living in a first floor flat but the floor will need to withstand more pressure.

Yes we have done this in the last threee houses. It works very well, and as previous poster said it means we can have a dishwasher in the kitchen. win win.

We have a condenser dryer in the spare room. When the condenser drawer is full of water I tend to tip it out of the window for speed.

No issues really, though I feel like I spend my whole life carrying baskets of washing up & down the stairs (washer is in the kitchen).

No damp problems as I always keep the window open if drying washing.

Only down side is that your spare room essentially becomes a laundry room. It was the only way we could fit it in though and has suited us for the last few years.

We're just looking to swop to a combined washer / dryer as we need the spare room back.
