Tigana · 24/08/2007 16:12

under?

um

I rootle about around the edges every so often to find missing flip flop/wooden block/fork etc. Does that count?

doggiesayswoof · 24/08/2007 16:12

Never since I moved the furniture last year.

erm....nope!

But I have a pathological hatred of all housework and only do it under total duress.

Roseylea · 24/08/2007 16:19

Oooh in our house the grand clearing-out of under the sofa is a great cause for celebreation! I do it about once a month, and there is always, without fail, a single sock ("Oh! So that's where it went!"), some jigsaw pieces, some unidentified plastic bits of broken toy, at least one of ds's die-cast Thomas trains (cue joyous re-union) and an assortment of rasins, apple peel and hairbands.

The dc bounce around on the sofas while I sift through the treasures (amazing how moving the sofas to a different part of the room suddenly makes them fun ) then we get out all the jigsaws that can suddenly be completed. Aaaah - what more could you ask of a rainy-afternoon activity?

I vowed to do it once a week aswell, like you i didn't stick to it! I have laminated floors and the dust is amazing! I also have two dogs, who are clean but obviously add to the dust/hair, yeuck!!!
I always feel so pleased with myself once it is done though!!

MamaMaiasaura · 24/08/2007 23:02

cant move the bloody sofa.. is toooooo heavy.

onlyjoking9329 · 24/08/2007 23:04

sofas have underneaths?

SlightlyMadStar · 24/08/2007 23:05

My sofa has a good 6cm+ clearance from the ground so all of DD3 (16m) balls and shape sorter pieces end up under there within a day of clearing it out.

I get a broom and pull all of the balls and stuff out about once a week (otherwise she would have non to play with !!!).

I havn't moved sofa to hoover under it since we had it new about 18m ago (well we may have done the 2 seeter as we moved it to put XMas tree up).

It is too heavy for me to move alone and DP doesn't seem to be around when I am hoovering. I did say the other day it needed doing though as there was lots of dust coming out as I scooped the balls out...

walbert · 24/08/2007 23:08

When the dust underneath resembles a beautiful thick blanket of snow.....

Clary · 24/08/2007 23:16

every week

I do it as part of my Tuesday night thorough clean downstairs - but on a rotating schedule with hoovering picture rails etc (god I sound anal) so about every month I guess...is that bad?

[falls to knees in admiration of Clary]

Like Tiguana.

We're having a new floor within the decade, so I guess I'll do it then.

sparklygothkat · 25/08/2007 13:45

I thought today that I must clean out under the sofas.. as when I was hoovering I noticed tons of crap under them I will do it when I get my 'nesting' period lol.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 25/08/2007 13:46

nightowl · 25/08/2007 13:56

Looking at my post of last night it sounds like I do it once a week as well.

No nono I was saying I was shocked at once a week!

Have to say mine is not usually that bad but then we have carpet not laminate.

Pls don't admire me ladies - I have been away all day, got back 9.30pm and cannot be bothered to do today's cleaning, not even the ironing!

4mum · 26/08/2007 23:21

what amazes me is how much fits under a sofa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
