A bit random...I have brand new towels, do I need to wash them before using? I have read I do, but to use a dryer to fluff them up, but I don’t have a tumblr dryer. Do I use as new, or wash but dry on an airer?

Are these your first ever towels ? What do you normally do,just do that?

Yes as presumably they've been in the warehouse or sitting on a shop shelf somewhere till now so not clean.

I never normally wash them first to be honest, but then they end of not fluffy. These are nice ones and I just wanted to keep them soft.

Tumble drying makes them fluffy. If you don't have a dryer you'll have to accept crunchy tweaks I'm afraid.

Fabrics often have some sort of finish applied that needs washing off and towels are more absorbent after washing. Always wash towels before you use them and don't use fabric conditioner as it makes them less effective.

Definitely wash them as there are chemicals left on them from the manufacturing process which you don't really want on your skin.
