Which robot vacuum do you have and love?

DD (9mo) is starting to eat all the little bits she finds around the house so I need to up my vacuuming game!

I subscribed to Which hoping for a solid recommendation but their tests on robot vacuums were done in 2016 Hmm ... and I am not sure I 100% trust Amazon reviews.

Please mumsnet tell me which one to buy :)

I don't need lots of bells and whistles but would like one with strong suction. It needs to deal with tiles, karndean and carpet (woven and long pile). I have a big house so am not sure if I will be able to have one which I can program to do its own thing as it might be too large an area for it to cope with? Be glad of advice...

Oh and budget? Will £400 get me a decent one? Less if possible but if I need to spend more I guess I could save up or buy second hand.

I have a neato and absolutely love him. My house is 100 x cleaner since we've had him.

I have a wooden floor with rugs and carpets upstairs, a large dog that sheds hair everywhere and two DC. I haven't hoovered (accept for the stairs) in 3 years.

scrabblecrazy · 03/12/2019 20:44

I have a Deebot (called Manuel)
Couldn't live without it. Hard floors throughout ground floor of house, programmed to start while I'm at work, when finished it automatically re docks itself onto the charging port.
Marvellous, I love him 😍

Bubblysqueak · 03/12/2019 20:46

Forgot to tell you the best bit about our neato, you can drive him like a remote control car! I now use him instead of a dustpan and brush! He also emails me a map of where he has hoovered and I can set invisible barriers to stop him hoovering certain areas (like around the dog bowl)

detachablehoof · 04/12/2019 13:18

These both sound amazing

@Bubblysqueak which neato model do you have?

I got a Eufy 15C Max in the Black Friday sale (c.£180 down from £260) and so far I'm very impressed.
It's very effective (I've used it on laminate, vinyl sheet, tiles, medium pile carpet and a low pile rug).
It doesn't have room mapping, and cleans in a random pattern, but then hugs the walls to clean the edges, so it does seem to cover the whole area eventually, although I am finding myself wanting to tell it that it's missed a spot 😂
The battery lasts around an hour and then it trundles back to its charger. It senses drops, so hasn't fallen down any steps.
The rotating brushes do get a bit tangled with long hair, but are super easy to remove and clean, they just clip off. It holds a decent amount of dust and fluff. We have two cats and it's very effective at picking up pet hair.

We have a roomba - not the latest version - thinks its 640(?) absolutely love it.
has an app on phone so you can see whst its up too, if the bin needs emptying etc. It maps the house itself so it sometimes charges mid clean and goes back out or you can set it off from your phone when out. programmable to start at set times etc
would get another immediately if it broke!
was approx £500 though

detachablehoof · 04/12/2019 15:20

Hmm there isn't exactly a clear winner recommended then Grin
Thanks all - given me a few ideas to look at anyway!

There was a thread just a few weeks ago and quite a few of us became robot vacuum owners as a result! We are now the owners of 2 Eufy 15Cs - got one then decided he was so good he should have a sibling so one's upstairs and one's downstairs. dh still vacuums once a week to make sure the stairs are done and gets into corners but the dust / pet hair is no longer an issue the rest of the time. We have a long haired dog, a long haired cat, a normal moggy and a long haired dd so loads of fluff and hair! If they get stuck they message us to tell us so we can go and sort them out.

detachablehoof · 04/12/2019 15:41

Eufy 15C looks great! Only wish I'd been organised enough to think about this BEFORE black Friday...

another vote for Roomba - she does an excellent job & is kind of now part of the family.

We started with the basic one which was brilliant, until my son filled it with water. We treated ourselves on black Friday last year and upgraded to the turbo model (there was £200 off!)

FirstTim3Mummy · 06/12/2019 11:46

We have a neato d4 life so much easier! Carpets and laminate floors both upstairs and down and does a great job. Floor maps and clean results etc on phone app! Oh and the no go lines are great to stop him trying to clean areas where he gets stuck like dining room table with all chairs

Had him for about almost two years. Cannot live without

I don't know how to remote control him though @Bubblysqueak where is this in the app?!

I saw the latest model of neato pet version was in black Friday was soooo tempted to buy! Ours cost £400 in a black Friday sale.hes a few generations old now!

detachablehoof · 06/12/2019 14:59

Neato D650 looks like the dream but check out the price graph 😭 I could have got £300 off last weekend!

I have a Deik. Chinese made so cheaper than the others but excellent customer service and very good Hoover - self docks and charges and manages to cover all of the floor space in my house and not get stuck

Aquamarine1029 · 06/12/2019 15:26

Eufy, absolutely love it. Just the basic model but that's all that's needed anyway. I've had it since February and it's still going strong.

Palaver1 · 08/12/2019 08:35

The best deals are during the Friday sell .
The sort of thing I’d wait or pay up there might be a new year sale.

detachablehoof · 16/12/2019 12:38

I did a price watch on the neato D650 and it went back down to 340! So swooped and purchased it.

Soooo pleased with it!! It's so much more thorough than I expected and is making me keep the floor tidy (win!) Thanks for the recommendation.
