Smelly curtains!

I recently had some new curtains made. They look lovely but the fabric (linen, I think?) has a funny “new” smell that isn’t particularly appealing. I’ve had them for over a month now and the smell has faded a little but is still there. I really want to get rid of it - would spraying them with something like this have any effect?

I know it’s expensive but I really want a nice smelling living room again!

I mix up water and some essential oils in a spray bottle and use that on my curtains and cushions and laundry .. makes all smell lovely.

Look at the product details - it's water with a bit of alcohol and essential oils.

Go to Savers or pound shop, buy a trigger spray of white vinegar, spray it liberally over the curtains and let them air a bit.
Then use pp's suggestion.

Thanks. I’m just worried that spraying vinegar and oils on the curtains will damage them - what do you think? They’re multicoloured, not plain white or anything - but I’m still a bit nervous!

The white vinegar spray should be ok. You can always test an inconspicuous area first. Not sure about the essential oils - it would need to be a very very weak solution and maybe not in direct sunlight.

The white vinegar spray doesn't smell too vinegary.
