If so, what do I need to do with them?

I would, bec ause you are only going to chuck them otherwise!

take the laces out, and pull the tongue upwards, put them on a short cycle and don't use biological wahsh powder.

I put anything & everything fabric in the washing machine! Put them in a pillow case just to stop them getting too knocked about. They come up an absolute treat!

MaureenMLove · 21/08/2007 15:27

Why not bio? I've always used bio and a normal wash too!

rofl

love the thread title

I always do. I put them in with the rest of the wash (which cuts down the bumping noises) on a 30 dgree wash with a slow spin.

I've washed dcs' trainers loads of times in the washing machine and they've been fine. Wash them at a low temp. Love the thread title btw, made me lol

Jazzicatz · 21/08/2007 15:35

by my thread title!

What have you got to lose?

yes take laces out (I tie them up in a bunch and then put them in too) - otherwise the washing machine eats them and kills itself in the process.

As for Bio/Non-Bio - unless they are going to be worn without socks I would definitely use bio to get rid of more of the stink-causing bugs.

meandmy · 21/08/2007 15:39

low wash temp i used to use wool cycle but my new washerhas a sports shoe cycle!
i also did them in pillow case and a cpl towels (stops the banging)

Jazzicatz · 21/08/2007 15:39

Think I might have a go now - I can smell them from here, think the cat might of relieved herself on/in them!!!!!

my dd trainers did stink of piss and i just bunged them in the machine with some towels on a 30 wash with bio , they came out lovely.By the way they stink of pee because she was potty training and had a few accidents.

EscapeFrom · 21/08/2007 15:43

well, I said not bio because it can degrade leather, leather being a mainly protein based product, like wool and silk.

EscapeFrom · 21/08/2007 15:43

And (meant toadd) the enzymes in biological powder might 'eat' the leatehr.

Jazzicatz · 22/08/2007 14:17

Have washed them twice now, and they still stink. What else can I do?

Cram with socks (or something) filled with bicarb for smell-absorption? If they smell of sweat etc you're supposed to bag them and pop them in the freezer, apparantly kills all the bacteria. Not so sure about wee though! Good luck!

CountessDracula · 22/08/2007 14:27

i would chuck them

DarthVader · 12/09/2007 18:23

save them for the school run

friendlyedjit · 12/09/2007 18:27

I might try that with my Dh trainers - they have stunk since trip to seaside when he went paddling in them. I spent a day balming my poor DD for not wiping her bum properly and eventually brought her to the bathroom to check despite her indignant protestations that she had! Of course she had this time!!

friendlyedjit · 12/09/2007 18:27

sorry blaming not balming!!
