Which Serving Bowl?

I have two serving bowls with my dinner set. One has a lid and the other doesn't. Are there are 'rules'-or practicalities- about what food should be served in each one or does it not matter?

I don’t think it matters at all but the lidded dishes are usually for food that is more temperature sensitive so potatoes are better in a lidded dish as they don’t taste as nice tepid whereas asparagus or broccoli are a bit more forgiving.

Veg in lidded because a lid will make roast potatoes soggy with the steam. Boiled/mash are ok obviously.

That's great. Thank you.

We always put the carb in a lidded serving dish (generally rice). Meat, veg, etc go in uncovered bowls.
