hi all,

38 and a half weeks pregnant here, landlord has just had a new oven put in as old one broke. he mentioned burning it off as it will smell the first time its used. I'm a little paranoid - is the smell dangerous? should I be in the home when this is being done :S

thanks!

No, not dangerous! Just need to put oven on for 30-60 minutes at a decently hot temp. We had this and it passes quite quickly

thank you - I just had a look at the manual to make sure it didnt say anything about it being hazardous and it just says what you stand landlord said- that due to a proective something or other they put on them to protect them during transport that they need to be burned off for 30-60 minutes and to just open windows as the smell isnt very nice. I am a worrier by nature so anything like this panics me! x

Yeah, an open window should suffice.
Good luck with your new baby 👶

No, put the extractor on and crack open a window. It'll go after a short time.

We had a new oven when I was 25 weeks and I thought the same thing but just did the above. It was snowing when I had our kitchen doors open 😂
