help - washing machine wont spin!!!!

Have only had it for about 3 weeks, dont want to call someone out to have a look at it as I found a 20p in the machine last night and think someone has left something in a pocket and it has blocked the pipe.

Any ideas how I would tackle this without calling someone out?? Last time there was a 5p caught in the hose and it cost us £80 to sort it out.

TIA

It won't spin at all? r it won't drain the water out?
If it won't spin at all, it's probably come off its bearings. If it won't drain, it might be blocked.

GreatAuntieWurly · 20/08/2007 12:58

sorry it does spin but the water stays in the machine,

Have you tried putting on on a really hot wash empty to try and flush it through?

naughtynoonoo · 20/08/2007 13:04

Check your buttons / knobs iykwim. I had this problem and then realised no spin button was pressed. Hope it as eay as this.

no, bit scared to put any washing on TBH, only put a qucik wash on last night and that was when it started not draining water properly

you need to open the small flap at the front and see if there is a blockace in the debris catcher. You should also be able to empty it manually from there (I'm presuming all washing machines have a service hatch at the front...sorry if yours hasn't)

Scootergrrrl · 20/08/2007 13:37

I meant to put it on empty and as hot as possible then it might just force everything through if there is a blockage.. perhaps.. maybe...

we fixed it. The pipe that the water drains out of was full of gunk which we cleared out using a metal coathanger and machine is working fine now.
