Washing machine recommendations (mine just went bang)

I'm hoping I might get some good recommendations for a new washing machine. Ours has broken, it was old so i'm looking to get a new one rather than repair.

I've looked at the Samsung ecobubble and addwash ones in Currys which looked good but its 186 minutes for 40C wash and 252 mins for a 60C wash! Seems rather excessive, and i do prefer to do a full wash rather than running a 2kg max 15 minute short wash all the time.

Any recommendations for something which will do a general wash less than 3 hours?

I have an AEG Lavamat 10Kg machine. I love it. My last one was an LG HUGE capacity, and I will NEVER have one again. The AEG wash times quoted seem long but they have fuzzy logic- they alter during the was depending how big/small the load is. The wash quality is excellent.

If you do get an AEG though, don't get the extended warranty - their service arm is rubbish - better to have any repairs done locally and pay.

I’d recommend Miele, they have a good reputation for build quality. Bit more expensive initially but worth it in the long room, ours is coming up to 20 years old and still going well.

Most standard washes are long these days. I like my Miele but generally do the 2 hour wash. There is a 1 hour one but it doesn't seem to rinse properly so I end up adding a 30 minute rinse & spin quite often.

The Samsung has an hour long cycle that I use all the time and it works really well. And you can have that same wash at 40 degrees or 60 so there is a bit of choice. Also has a five year warranty which is what made me buy it as my last three washing machines lasted for 3 years, 2 years and 1 year and I am fed up replacing washing machines. My first one lasted 15 years, so I don't think I am a terrible owner...

The Samsung eco bubble has a 'daily wash' setting which takes one hour. You can adjust a few bits to eg wash ten mins longer if things are grubby or do an extra rinse.

I like mine.

Advice I was given in the independent appliance shop is to go for cheapest model of a good brand rather than top of range of a less good brand. Eg all Bosch machines will have same motor etc, just fancy buttons and more programmes for higher spec machine.

If you do have an independent shop on your local high street it's worth seeing what they have to offer. Mine price matched the big retailers, delivered quickly when it suited me- at a specific time, not half day window. All guarantees the same.

I've just bought a Samsung ecobubble one (not with the silly add in door thing), and it's only been used so far on the daily wash cycle! Takes an hour to run at 40 or 60c, and it's very quiet. I'm really pleased with it... our old Zanussi one used to sound like a B52 bomber coming in to land when it was on full spin.
