Dyson V6 hoover battery needs replacing

does this sound right do you think? It's a cordless hoover that I use for daily picking up the crumbs after cooking/eating in the kitchen. I got it in Feb 2016.

Now when I use it, it only lasts for about 20 seconds and Dyson are advising that the battery needs replacing.

This is timely! Mine is doing the exact same thing. Also bought around the same time - built in obsolescence?

I read somewhere that they last about 3-5 years, probably similar to phone and laptop batteries.

I bought a new (not dyson brand) battery from eBay to replace the one on mine, it worked great.... for about 1month! And then the same problem kicked back in.
I ended up buying a new dyson, and feel a bit annoyed that I wasted £20 on a non brand battery. If you are going to do it - I go for a dyson battery or just bite the bullet and get a new one.
In fairness, my old battery did last about 5/years.

Yep. Sounds right to me. Go for a Dyson one, not one from eBay.
