Has anyone managed to turn it around from being a messy person?

I’ve always been messy, I suffer from mental health issues and when I’m low everything always goes to pot and I struggle to get it right again. My house is a tip at the moment, not just messy but there are parts that are dirty too and I’m so ashamed of it. I want to keep everything to a reasonable standard all the time but find it so hard to keep on top of things. Has anyone been like me and managed to turn it around and become a person with a clean and tidy house most of the time?

At least it’s not just me!!

I’ve sorted a massive pile of washing tonight, baby steps.

Baby steps are key and realising that there is no magic solution that gets it all done in zero time. You basically need to spend more time cleaning. JFD something, anything, to get you started and at least it'll be 5 mins' worth better than it was before.

Inviting people round is still a key part of our strategy!

Hah - ours too. DS2 even said to me once: why do we only clean the hosue when people are coming round?
Actually, we don't, but we only deep clean the house when people are coming round.
