How to clean these gas hob knobs

Hi ladies,
I'm after some tips on cleaning these grim knobs on the gas cooker in our new rental. I swear they've not been cleaned in their life. I've had a go just jabbing away with a cocktail stick but I feel like I'd lose the will to live going right round them all. Any tips on products or tools for the job? I don't know if the knobs are removable.
Thanks.

Try soaking some kitchen towel in cleaning solution ( maybe a bleach one) and wrapping it around them, the wiping of with some kind of scouring pad.

Cheap Poundland toothbrushes, either soap, Mr Muscle kitchen cleaner or if all else fails an abrasive cream cleaner like Cif. Use folded kitchen paper between the knob and cooker surface.

Soak a piece of cleaning sponge in bleach and tie it round them using an elastic band. Leave for a bit and then rinse off.
