Washing machine

Can anyone shed any light on why my washing machine isn't taking any fabric softener? Takes the powder fine.

I've taken the drawer out and cleaned it all and I've now put it on an empty hot wash with a washing machine cleaner to see if that helps.

Any ideas?

Is it a new problem with your existing washing machine, or is it a new (to you at least) washing machine?

If it's a new machine could it possibly be to do with the program/setting it's on, or perhaps the wrong drawer compartment? I once had a washing machine that had a prewash section in the drawer with the little prewash symbol, but no setting which would actually do a prewash Confused

If it's an existing machine, perhaps something to do with the water nozzle which will squirt into that section of the drawer to wash the softener down into the drum?

It's just started on a machine I've had less than a year.

At the end of the cycle the section in the drawer is full of water plus the fabric softener

If it's less than a year old then it should still be under warranty so best bet is probably just to call them then they can either tell you what's wrong or send someone out to look at it

Have you cleaned the roof bit where the drawer sits as the holes can get blocked. Try an old toothbrush to clean them out

Yeah going to phone but was just thinking of things I can do in the meantime. I have also cleaned the roof and inside of the drawer compartment

When you take the drawer out and fill the softener compartment with the tap does the siphon activate and start to drain the water? Are you using concentrated softener as you may need to dilute with water when adding it to the machibe

Yeah the water runs out if I pour water into the drawer over the sink. However at the end of each wash the drawer is full of softener and water. Just normal softener. I've cleaned as far as I can down all the holes. Poured boiling water down them and put the machine onto an extended hotwash with a cleaner. Going to call someone today
