Cutlery care

We'd like to buy a cutlery set and get rid of our old mismatched stuff - nothing very expensive, stainless steel. The set I'm looking at comes in a case, but if we kept it in a drawer, just in a cutlery tray, would it get bashed and scratched quickly? I think it would be a faff getting it out of and replacing it in a case all the time, also we'd have to find somewhere to keep the case.

It will get a bit bashed but nothing compared to the bashing your patience levels would take getting a spoon out every time you want to stir a coffee or cup of tea so personally I would keep it in a cutlery tray.

Thanks nettie, my feeling exactly! We have now bought the cutlery and it's all in the tray, in the drawer!
