dp put quil cover away damp and it now has mildew stains

well what looks like damp/mildewy type stinas.how can i get rid of them? not that i particularly like the quilt cover but refuse to buy another new one if i can get rid fo the stains!

Um - it may not come out whatever you do, but you could wash it with detergent plus eg Vanish, and then hang it in the sun for as long as poss.

(I once did this by accident, with some pyjamas used by child for swimming lesson and then left in plastic bag for weeks; washed them and left them on line for a couple of weeks when we went on holiday, and the mildew more or less disappeared. So worth a try )

This happened with our double sleeping bag and it did come out in the normal wash.
