I have a pair of trousers - label says dry clean only. 68% polyester, 31% viscose, 1% elastance, lining 100% polyester. Should I risk a delicate wash?

I would.

redchocolatebutton · 30/09/2019 19:33

but maybe only the once

tbh I would try. I have washed many items that are dry lean only and they came out fine. I would go for low temp, low spin. pull gently into shape and smooth before hanging up to dry.
I don't have time for everyday clothes that can't go in the washer.

PestoCaffeinisto · 30/09/2019 19:34

I would, but I wouldn’t tumble dry them after.

Rachelover60 · 30/09/2019 19:37

Yes a very delicate wash, minimum temp and short spin. I'm sure they'll be fine.

fishonabicycle · 30/09/2019 19:45

Ok. I'll risk it! They are my son's and I'm not paying to dry clean them every week!

Thanks all. They appear to have survived!

Woo hoo. Also sounds like it's time to remind your DS to check the labels when he buys clothes and not buy things that are dry clean only unless he wants to be taking them to the cleaners regularly or risk ruining them in the machine.

I don't buy anything except knitwear that looks like it won't stand up to normal washing. If it doesn't go in a standard 40 wash, or a hand wash cycle, I'm not buying it. Ditto for anything that looks like it would need ironing, or is pale coloured. Life's too short.

Exactly.
