Lakeland DrySoon Dryer

Hello everyone, after three years of hesitating I have finally bought a Lakeland Dryer and have already sent one back (3 tier) as the bars became MUCH hotter than the ‘gentle’ heat I was lead to believe.

My second brand new one has just arrived and having been in overnight, this too has very hot bars! I know this sounds daft but on the QVC presentation they say it is safe for children and pets as only a ‘gentle heat’?

It is not as hot as a toaster but you would struggle to keep your hand on a bar without it being too hot to hold. Apology for lengthy post but would appreciate others’ experiences

I dont have one, but I would think it's not meant to be left on overnight?

I love mine. Had it for years. Yes you can leave it on overnight - it's like an electric radiator. It's certainly quite warm to the touch but it wouldn't burn, in fact my electric towel rail is much hotter and I kept DGC away from that.

Does a nice job of heating the room too!

Mine gets a little bit hot. It won't hurt to touch it but I wouldn't want to grip the bars for more than 5/10 minutes. I always leave it on over night.

We have had ours for years. The heat is definitely evenly distributed and none of it is too hot to touch. Like a warm radiator but never "hot".
I think yours is faulty though the newer models could be different to ours.
We don't tend to leave it on overnight but have left it on all day when out etc.
Not cheap To run but far better for clothes than tumble drier IMO.

Thank you SO much everyone for your posts, they have been really helpful.

I’m still a tad confused as it seems odd I could have received two faulty ones, so have to assume the one I ‘felt’ in the Lakeland shop hadn’t been on that long!

Just felt the top bars of mine again (that are the hottest) and you can lightly touch them for a good few seconds but certainly no more, or with a tighter grip. Does dry clothes well and neater foot print than using two airers as before, so can only guess it’s ok.

The one you touched in Lakeland was probably a display one that’s been a store display model for many years. You won’t of been sent a faulty one each and every electrical item will of passed a quality control.

The cat sleeps in mine when it's on, so it can't be too hot.

Thank you Strongbeatskinny, especially TWO ‘faulty’ ones!!! Guess the new models must just run very hot then....
