New washing machine advice please. Samsung or Bosch? Any model recommendations or warnings? Thanks!

We've just bought a new Bosch.

Reason being the previous Bosch one was very similar, and lasted 14 years. Heavy use too with three kids. new one is great, very quiet!

@OtraCosaMariposa...Thank You!

Resurrecting in case anyone else has suggestions, as I'm looking at replacing my faithful 16 yo Bosch with another Bosch or Samsung... reading that Bosch aren't as wonderful as they used to be?

Lioness, what did you go for in the end?

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/10/2019 12:12

We replaced ours last year and did loads of research and ended up with a basic miele. Not as fancy looking as the Samsung but I'm very happy with it. Same model roughly as a colleague of DHs has and his is 15 years old.

Superjaggy · 13/10/2019 13:51

Thanks Wax, my budget is probably no more than £500, can I ask how much yours cost? Also, does it have a quick wash? I've decided this is an essential feature!

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/10/2019 14:00

Quick wash is an essential feature! You can switch any programe to a quicker wash but the specific short wash is a half load but only takes 20 minutes. So you can do two quick loads in the space of 40 minutes which is still faster than most normal programmes. you can change the temperature up to 40 degrees and can switch off the quickness and it will do a 30 minute wash instead.

Ours was more than £500 (about £650) and I did baulk at the cost but i expect to have it for 20 years. It feels really solid and well made, it's very gentle on the clothes too.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/10/2019 14:01

Oh meant to say, that apart from bedding/towels and DHs uniforms (health care) which go on a hotter full wash, I wash everything on the short half loads, 3.5kg is actually more than you think.

Superjaggy · 13/10/2019 15:34

Thanks Wax, I shall share that info with DP and see if I can persuade him to agree to it Grin.

Ours was the opposite "super* I could see better things to spend that cash on than a washing machine but he was determined and I caved. I was swayed by the looks and features of the other brands tbh but I 'm really happy with what we have. If it comes down to Bosch or samsung, i'd probably go for the latter as I think Bosch are riding on their previous rep a lot and the products, unless you go really high end, aren't the same level of quality anymore. Samsung are still building their reputation and their phones are fab :)

AudacityOfHope · 13/10/2019 15:45

I just bought a Samsung Ecobubble which was £449 installed.

The reviews are excellent and I wanted something that would last. Haven't used it yet so can't give you my own review!

Miele Bosch or Siemens. All Siemens laundry appliances come with a 5 year warranty.

Superjaggy · 13/10/2019 20:56

Thanks everyone for your views. We're going with a Samsung eco bubble with an "Add Wash" window for stray socks (appreciate this is a gimmick, but I seem to have developed a habit of forgetting to put the detergent in so it seems like a worthy gimmick Blush).

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/10/2019 21:09

Hope it does you proud OP :)

I can stop my Miele withing the first couple of minutes and open the door to add anything, have used that a couple of times.

zsazsajuju · 13/10/2019 21:12

I got a Samsung eco bubble but I can’t say it does anything my previous cheapest machine didn’t do. Only thing is the capacity is more which is helpful.

Superjaggy · 13/10/2019 21:43

To have a machine that can wash in less than 70 mins will feel like a luxury! I'm sure I'll always stick to the same couple of programmes but it's nice to have options. And a much quieter machine - I let mine rattle for months before finally accepting that it had served its time Smile
