The best cordless vacuum. Not pee related!

Myusernam · 12/09/2019 17:04

Why is the whole page all pee problems?

Anyhoo. I need a cordless vacuum. I hate my Dyson. Waste of money!
My floors are mostly wood with the occasional rug. Can anyone recomend one?

People always say Shark on such threads. That’s what I’m getting next time.

Sammysquiz · 13/09/2019 07:49

I have a cordless Shark and it’s great, we have mostly wooden floors too.

Think the pee ones are all a scammer posting on old threads!

GTech air ram is brilliant. When we hired our cleaner she got really excited about it as well. We've had it 5 years and when things have needed replacing on it (only once) there were simple YouTube videos and plenty of cheap spare parts as well.

Passportpacked · 13/09/2019 08:01

GTech air ram k9. Have both the hoover and the handheld. House has never been so clean.

combatbarbie · 13/09/2019 08:33

We've just got a shark after giving up replacing everything on the Dyson, so far so good.... It is intelligent to flick between hard floors and carpet. We got 2 batteries on offer too.

Myusernam · 13/09/2019 15:45

Ah it's hard to decide between the shark and the gtech. Anyone had both?

Interestingly Which? rate the various GTech & Shark at low 60%'s and down whereas the various Dyson are top of the stack at high 70%'s +.

isitautumnyet · 13/09/2019 15:59

I have both. I prefer the shark. Feels nicer to push around

randomsabreuse · 13/09/2019 16:03

We have an Electrolux Li-21 which does great for laminate and a few rugs and is ok on carpets upstairs too. Probably not heavy duty enough for a deep clean but so much easier and quicker than the corded cylinder (vax) and upright (Dyson) we have lurking!

Myusernam · 13/09/2019 16:05

My Dyson was ace when we first got it but after a year started to fall apart. I also found the dyson customer service appalling. I would never buy another one!

After the disappointment with my latest Dyson (not cordless), I ordered myself a cheap and supposedly good Black and Decker one. No way I'm paying in the region of hundreds for a vacuum cleaner again.
It's arriving on Saturday, I'll let you know how it works if you want me to.

Genderfree · 13/09/2019 16:29

What type of cordless shark is good

Benjispruce · 13/09/2019 16:32

Do not waste over £200 Blush on a Bosch Athlete. Better on carpet but not good on hard floors. Luckily I kept my Henry for proper hoovering. Only use the Bosch for quick whizz around in between proper hoovering. It has brushes that need to be released of hair with a scissors more regularly than I want to. Bad purchase.

TheFairyCaravan · 13/09/2019 16:41

We've got a cordless Shark, after having a cordless Vax for about 4 years. Our Vax Awas better than MIL's and my neighbour's cordless Dyson but my Shark is a million miles better.

I'm disabled so can't use the big Shark hoover we have, but when I'm having a good day I can have a crutch in one hand and the cordless in the other and at the end my house looks like it's been well hoovered.

This is ours

Angelika321 · 13/09/2019 16:59

I have a cordless Dyson V8, it's in its 3rd year of use and still going strong. I use it several times daily. 4 children create plenty of mess! When I had issues just a couple of days after the warranty period expired Dyson sent me spare parts foc.

The only thing I would recommend is giving it a good clean every couple of months to keep it running smoothly.

Bowerbird5 · 13/09/2019 21:19

Hi Interested party as I had a great small Dyson and it lasted about 5years used nearly every day. Got another similar model not quite as good as a part near the hose comes out.DH can put it back but I can't. I was going to buy a cordless one but not sure now. How heavy are the Shark models? I have arthritis in my wrists so can't carry heavier models which is how we ended up with a Dyson in the first place.

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2019 20:52

I have a Vax & quite like it, but my next one will be a Shark.

Tooner · 20/09/2019 10:03

I have recently bought a Shark and I absolutely love it. Bit of a faff having to carry the attachments around with you (I'm used to a corded Dyson) but I can do the whole of my 3 bed house on one charge and it picks up brilliantly.

Myusernam · 21/09/2019 08:25

Thanks everyone. Great to get some feedback as there is a lot more exciting things of like to spend a couple hundred quid on 🤣 after having a shot of my friends gtech today, I'm definitely going for the shark.

Disco3000 · 22/09/2019 00:18

I got the Shark and I LOVE IT. You can detach it so you have a handheld bit too. Maintenance is a breeze. Wait for offers though, got mine for £100 off normal price.

People worry about the 20 minute run time but a single charge lasts days because it's so efficient.

Floralnomad · 22/09/2019 00:29

I’ve got a Dyson , a shark (or two) and a Bosch athlet and have used my sisters Gtech as well and for overall performance and ease of use the Shark is the best .

Watfrordmummy · 22/09/2019 09:25

Customer service at Shark is amazing. I've got a shark and I love the years bits have stopped working (husband sucked thing up and they got jammed). They've replaced for free each part to the extent there's only one original part left!!

Don't think Dyson do that

Myusernam · 22/09/2019 20:28

Just to check before I part with my cash, is it the shark duo clean to go for?

OP posts:
Hovverry · 23/09/2019 19:42

Another thumbs down for Bosch Athlete. I loved it until the first time I tried to vacuum the stairs, first time I had to empty it, first time it ran out of charge after ten minutes use... I could go on.

Floralnomad · 23/09/2019 21:32

I really like the Bosch and the performance is great it’s just too much trouble to use with the attachments , for just floors it’s brilliant and really quiet .
