Freshly washed laundry smelling musty?

I don't understand it - my washing machine is only 6 months old, I use bio powder (not much), no conditioner, don't overload, run regular 90 degree washes with vinegar/soda crystals, but recently all my loads are coming out smelling less than fresh. This is on 20 and 40 degree cotton cycles. I dry it all straight away, either out on the line or on the heated airer.

What should I try next, please? Thanks in advance.

Change washing powder and see if that helps.

Do you leave the door open after each wash to let the machine dry out?
Is the detergent drawer cleaned regularly?

I’d try washing at 60.

NoWillpowerLeft · 12/09/2019 11:59

Yeah I don't think cycles below 60 really kill the smells.

Thanks for all the replies!

@ThePhoenixRises I've tried three different powders, no change unfortunately.

@NabooThatsWho I do leave the door open and clean the drawer, seal, etc.

@DDIJ Laundry sanitiser, like the Dettol stuff? The washing doesn't go in especially grubby but will definitely give this a go.

@CalmFizz and @NoWillpowerLeft I will start using hotter cycles more often. I do use the 20 degree wash most often, thinking about it.

Many thanks - I appreciate all of your suggestions.

Try the detol washing machine cleaner. It's good.
