Slippy decking, I'm an idiot. Help!

50 people coming to the house this weekend. I thought I'd clean the decking as a bit dirty. I'm an idiot and used fairy liquid and boiling water and scrubbed it with a hard brush for ages. It's now nice and clean but SO SO slippy. Don't have time to repaint and couldn't with it so slippy anyway. Any ideas how to get the slippiness away. Salt? More hot water? Bleach? Please help or I'm gonna have a lot of people falling over and getting angry. Thanks!!

Sand....sprinkle it with sand. Or...and this will sound odd...raw potatoes.

Cut some big ones up and rub them all over the deck. This is an old performers trick...dancers especially. We used to rub the soles of our shoes with cut potatoes to stop them being slippy. It's the starch I expect.

I think you can neutralise the soap with salt and vinegar. I think it is something like one cup of vinegar to every two tablespoons of salt. Hopefully that will work. Not sure what it will do to the decking but better than it being slippy.

Thank you, I looked a bit weird in the rain scrubbing away with a potato and it was just moving sludge. Tried the salt and vinegar and seems to be a little better, off to buy more. Fingers crossed!
