How can I stop my bedroom door from sticking

We have never had a problem with our door until now. It seems to be sticking at the top, and dd1 becomes hysterical in the middle of the night when she wants to come in to us and the door wont open. It takes quite a tug or push to open it. Any tips to make it open a bit easier?

Vaseline?

Sand down the top?

A good squirt of WD-40 on the hinges might help too.

Undoing the screws on all the hinges a little and then re-tightening might let the door "sink" a little and relieve the sticking - this will only work if it is really is the top that is sticking, not the side at the top.

If this doesn't work, then you are looking at getting the top or side planed/sanded - not a difficult job but very messy: if you are tempted into using an electric planer be very careful as it's easy to take too much off and you'll be left without a door!
