Hi everyone currently shopping for a hoover and am so confused. I want a Dyson because I think they're fab and the warranty's are good. I know I definitely want a cordless one which is quite lightweight. Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance Smile

They're not fab.

DangerFrog · 30/08/2019 00:55

The new Dyson models aren't as good as the original models.

Carpetburns · 30/08/2019 01:06

Shark. They are much better than a Dyson.

pikapikachu · 30/08/2019 01:07

Can't wait to replace my Dyson with a Shark

notanotherfucker · 30/08/2019 01:30

Which shark model do you recommend?

123rd · 30/08/2019 02:02

Was going to say the same. First had a dyson about 15+ yrs ago and it was fab.
Our recently bought one is naff. So heavy, the ball is annoying. It is very tricky to stand it up properly.
I want to change it but can't yet.

kmini · 30/08/2019 08:30

Ours is broken for the 2nd time. Really only used for 2.5 years. Not impressed

chaosisaladder · 30/08/2019 10:50

I used my DSis’ Shark and was v impressed! It was only £99 I think - will be replacing my Dyson with one when the time comes

Speakeasy22 · 30/08/2019 10:52

Get a Gtech instead. Much better.

MustardScreams · 30/08/2019 10:54

Which shark do people recommend? I was looking at the Dyson v10 but heard so many bad reviews, could do with some info on the best shark!

FanSpamTastic · 30/08/2019 11:44

I love my Dyson cordless - it's great for inbetwern cleans. But I wouldn't want it as my only option. We also have a plug in the wall dyson.

The batteries have improved a lot but I still could not get more than half an hour out of it.

Do I depends if you like to do a room each day or the whole place in one go?

Hangingtrousers · 30/08/2019 11:48

Don't buy one. I hate mine.

Harriedharriet · 31/08/2019 05:47

re the Shark. I got one after reading the reviews here. Amazing for 2 months and then not good at all. Disappointed...

firstimemamma · 31/08/2019 06:24

I've had a dyson v 7 motorhead for a while now and I LOVE it! It picks up so much dirt! I thought I had a clean home and then the first time I used it frankly I was embarrassed by the amount it picked up!

I live in a normal 3 bed family home and can run it quickly around daily. This only takes 7 mins so no issue re battery life. If I want to do the edges / take more time, I haven't actually timed this but the battery has never run out so it can't exceed 20 mins. Highly recommend Smile

MitziK · 31/08/2019 11:41

I thought about it, considered the Bosch stick (as Dysons are crap), but then reasoned that it would be a right pain to have a battery dying (I don't have a convenient place to set up a charging station) and bought a Miele Blizzard.

The cable is long enough to do my entire ground floor, stairs and landing before unplugging and bringing the lead upstairs for the bedrooms and bathroom.

CrotchetyQuaver · 31/08/2019 11:43

Look at the Sebo uprights. German quality and engineering and the warranty was ok. I bought one for my dad to replace his dyson and will do the same for our house when it next breaks

TheFaerieQueene · 31/08/2019 11:44

Shark duo clean. Dyson are crap.

Dogsarebetterthancatsok · 31/08/2019 11:48

Don’t get a Shark. By far the worst I’ve ever used. Dysons are brilliant. I have 2 and wouldn’t be without them. I did a test when I had a shark and Dyson and Dyson was far better. Considerably so.

FairfaxAikman · 31/08/2019 11:51

My shark is a million times better than Dsis Dyson. Hers just wouldn't cope with all the fur off my lab.

cornflower123 · 01/09/2019 11:38

Whatever you get, don't get a Dyson. I've had 2 in the past and they don't last well at all.
Recommend a Henry as indestructible (looks quite basic though, if that bothers you). Also Miele (more expensive).

Amber0685 · 01/09/2019 11:40

I have a Dyson and a Gtech and think the Gtech is better.

MaureenSowerbutts · 01/09/2019 11:40

I've got a cordless Dyson, V8 I think and an upright Dyson, an animal one I think. The upright is much better than the cordless which is absolute rubbish.

Anonymous1419 · 09/09/2019 14:36

One word - MIELE

Felt like I never even knew what a vacuum cleaner could do until I tried one.

Visit your local dealer.

Not associated with them, just spent a good few afternoons reading reddit.com/r/vaccums and reading the incredible AMA's on there by the vacuum repair me 'don't touch my swear word coffee'

Sweetpeach3 · 09/09/2019 14:50

I have the animal handheld. It's amazing and im the best at breaking them for some reason. And Tbh they have the new parts sent within 2 days so it's great
Can't fault them!! And the battery is quite good. X
