Machine washed sofa cushions

Youngest has vomited on the sofa today so on a whim I chucked the cover into the machine on a hand wash setting, 400 spin. It's on the line drying & I'm panicking that it's shrunk...impossible to tell at the moment. What do people think based on the settings I used? Freaking out inside as totally dismissed my husband when he expressed concern... 😬

Were they okay? My sofa cushions aren't machine washable but I do the same thing - hand wash, with delicate laundry liquid, on lowest spin setting. Always come out fine! I don't do it too often though as I don't want the colour to fade.

Apparently if you put them back on the sofa when still damp it helps prevent shrinking. I could wash my last sofa covers with no problems at all. I’ve only washed my current sofa cushions once and getting them back on was a terrible faff. Came up lovely and clean though, but they had definitely shrunk and the sofa looked awful for months, looks fine now but grubby and needs another wash.

Mine is white & washable, do all the covers about once a year. It’s at least 12 yrs old (bought second hand in 2007) and still looks good.

They have turned out fine!

So fine in fact that I'm going to wash all of the covers whilst we have the hot weather. I did put them back on when damp so I'm sure that helps too. I'm fairly certain they aren't machine washable, as it's a John Lewis sofa, but they have turned out great 😅
