What can I sew in to hang up a jacket??

New to MN, no idea if I'm posting this in the right place, but I need some help in one simple area!

What sort of tape (or something else?) can I sew into the neck of a heavy jacket to replace the worthless bit of overly stretchy thin bit of elastic that's been provided to hang it up with? Just to hang it on a coat hook. Problem is, I need something that's easy to sew in but is robust and will last - I don't want to have to do it again! The jacket's dark navy blue, so it needs to be available in a dark colour that won't stand out. I'm sure it's simple, but I can't think of what I should use! Help?

Would bias binding be suitable?

PorterBella · 06/08/2019 19:40

Shoe lace?
Twist a couple of overstretched bobble things together?

Denim from old jeans [ the belt loop bit]

Another suggestion for bias binding.
Or wider/thicker/stronger ribbon.
Get thee to a haberdashery.

I agree a haberdashery would be the solution, but I can't get to one, need to order online, so I need to know what to order

It would be too thin, wouldn't it?

twill tape or grosgrain ribbon.

Ali382 · 07/08/2019 09:44

Don't know those - I'll look them up!
