Creepy crawley things in my flour :(

Just went to make bread for lunch and the flour was covered in little bugs. I last used the flour a few weeks ago and didnt notice them then. What are they? Should I chuck out all the flour in my cupboards? Its all kept in supposedly airtight containers, but they were cheap tesco ones and now Im unsure if they are actually airtight at all, since those little things got in.

Chuck it out. They might be weevils.

I grew up in very hot climates and we always kept flour in the fridge.

I'd invest in some good containers.

They're probably weevils.

Chuck it out and check anything else similar. You need to clean the cupboard they're in.

I would suspect the containers are not airtight if you have got them.

Probably flour weevils or flour beetles. I'd personally throw out the flour, although I guess they'd add protein!

ok, have now chucked out flour - will it affect sugar etc too? they are stored in similar containers, but I cant see anything in there....they are making my skin crawl just thinking about them. Steam cleaing cupboard this afternoon - can anyone recommend any good airtight containers that dont cost the earth?

If flour beetle, you might want to check your pasta, grains, pulses and cereals as well. I had extra holes in my Cheerios once

Sugar would be ok, I would have thought.

ok, will check everything out...could be hard to find in muesli so might just chuck it to be on safe side. Thanks ladies
