Moved house recently and when we viewed it there was quite a potent spicy smell. We assumed they had been cooking and thought nothing of it. When we moved in the house was immaculately clean but the smells was still there. Now that we've been in a few months the smell keeps returning- it has nothing to do with what we've been cooking and it's only right at the front door. I don't think it was ever anything to do with cooking and starting to worry there is something dead somewhere... any ideas??

Not that I can think of- but that mix describes the smell exactly.

Bicarbonate of soda is meant to absorb smells. You can get a pack of non-cooking grade at a diy/household store and sprinkle it all down and leave overnight. Try that ?

I have tried that- and it worked a treat- for about a week. Really need to find the source
