How to fix my polished wood dressing table?

Hope someone can help please! I've just tried to clean some makeup marks off my dressing table with a dettol all in one disinfectant spray. Didn't think to check the label and have come back to find my table covered in white marks. Can anyone suggest a way to fix this please?

Very slight marks are now very very obvious!

Sand down and varnish.

I belong to a vintage furniture group on facebook and they give fab tips for things like this. The one that comes up the most is... plaster the area with mayonnaise overnight and wipe off tomorrow.

@CatsMother66 thank you! I will give that a try. I did think sanding & revarnishing was my only option but was hopeful someone would come along with a little tip like this!
