Bugs in pillows pic attached WARNING BUG PIC

NC

Does anyone know what this sort of bug is? I don't go into son's room often, DH has mentioned fruit flies, I went in to sort out and found dozens of these crawling over the pillows. Not fruit flies.

Son has not been bitten, and I found a few dead ones.

So creeped out, want to scratch skin off. Tried Google pic search, but didn't get anywhere. All help seriously welcome.

A quick Google suggested biscuit beetle or cigarette beetle, but you might have already ruled those out.

@ElstreeViaduct Thanks - I was getting nowhere with the similar google image thing, but I'll have a quick look.

Just ewwwww! And I've tried to be so strict about no food in the bedrooms!

Yeah, you think you'll get the icky bits out of the way when they are little but nope!

There's a good chance that they came in a herb filled sleep pillow that I got him from Amazon.

Finally have to learn to use my steamer.

How big are they, difficult to tell in the picture?

Hotterthanahotthing · 25/07/2019 17:28

Could be a carpet beetle?

nilcarborundum · 25/07/2019 17:55

Do you have any old furniture? They look like woodworm to me and this is the time of year they come out. They're not harmful to humans though!

ewwbugs · 25/07/2019 20:12

@BillywilliamV they are tiny, just a few mm

@nilcarborundum most of our furniture is cheap IKEA particle board, but we have wooden floor boards and are attached to neighbours who have a variety of issues. Google pics of woodworm look uncomfortably similar

@Hotterthanahotthing they don't look like the pics of carpet beetles on Google, but I could be mistaken.

Thank you for all the help. I'm going to spend the next few days tearing the room apart. I have a steamer, a car with a good sized boot and a pass to the local tip. I'm just worried about it spreading to the rest of the house.

It's deffo not a carpet beetle as they're mottled in colour. No idea.
