Neutralising smelly trainers?

DS has some newish, expensive Asics trainers that smelt of chemicals when new. The addition of sweaty feet has turned the odour to cat piss. What’s the best way to get them clean and zap the smell? Will they survive a machine wash?

Baking soda. Sprinkle it in, leave overnight, tip it out the next day, et voila Wink

Really? That simple? This is why I love MN!

Yes, I second baking soda. It's miracle stuff.

If the soda doesn’t work I noticed a sign outside our local Johnson’s cleaners for rejuvenating trainers so maybe whatever they do would get rid of the smell .

Thanks all. Smile

I’ll admit I was sceptical, but it bloody worked! Without laundering the offending trainers too. Thanks again.

Awesome, glad it worked x

Teabags (unused) sort of work as well. Maybe not as good as baking soda which I'm going to give a try in dds cheerleading trainers which are the only shoes of hers that stink!
