Replacement dishwasher baskets - any online stores recommended?

Leo35 · 30/07/2007 15:21

I want to track down a replacement for the lower basket/tray in our indesit dishwasher. The plastic coating is coming off in lots of places and the rusty metal is poking through.

Machine works fine though, so would like to track down spare parts. I've found a lot of cutlery baskets and wheels to buy, but not the big baskets themselves.

Any obscure sources with good prices that Mnetters can recommend? Am I using the correct dishwasher terminology even?!!

Not having a good weekend. Took 4 phone calls to find someone who will repair a poorly DVD player/recorder....

Not able to help I'm afraid, but could I ask where you found the cutlery baskets? I need a new one! Thanks

Spares for home, upper and lower baskets.
Espares, check for your model.

Thankyou

Thank you Skribble - fab links. The espare picture looks like the one that I want. will have to do some sums at £93!! They surely can't cost that much to manufacture?? Will book mark the sites, thanks again.

Bloody hell £93 is a bit steep.

I've used Currys partmaster, although not for dishwasher spares, and they were fine.

traceukw1 · 01/08/2007 15:45

Try www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk they are brilliant when it comes to that sort of stuff and you can ask thier advise to make sure it is the right one you are buying.

Twiglett · 01/08/2007 15:47

oh Leo .. where did you find cutlery baskets for dishwashers please as ours is falling apart and a new one would be a great idea

Leo35 · 01/08/2007 20:27

Hi,

I googled "indesit dishwasher basket spares" and several likely sites came up. Not sure how to do links, but addys are:
www.keepingupappliances.com
www.sparesforhome.co.uk
www.worldspares.co.uk and a Currys spares site.

Loads of others there, but only saw cutlery baskets and no main baskets hence the thread on MN!

Best of luck tracking them down.

My OH who works in the industry and also gives advise on the website that i mentioned below which no-one seems to have bothered looking at says that if you need a new basket because it has rust or plastic is rubbing off then yes you can kiss goodbye to approx £100 give. If however the wheels are broken then you can get them for about £16 so it depends why you need a new a basket.
Have a look on the website it is worth it and you can ask proper engineers there advise.

traceukw1 · 01/08/2007 23:12

give or take even.

popmum · 01/08/2007 23:26

i've used this company here before for a replacement blade for my mixer. Good service

Furball · 02/08/2007 06:53

You need to find where the old dishwashers go to and get one thats going to the dishwasher heaven in the sky. £93 for a blooming basket is total ripoff you can get a whole new machine for double that!

Leo35 · 02/08/2007 15:13

Hi,

I've checked out all sites mentioned. Might be needing them more in the future - the washing machine is over 10 yrs old, the tumble drier was second hand also. We're not proud!!

Furball - I thought that the scrap merchants etc who have the old ones might be a source, but can't think where they might be locally. Also might not have the will at the moment to do the tracking down!

£90-100 seems a lot for a wire basket with plastic coating, esp. compared with the price of a new one doesn't it? The dishwasher was second hand and has done two families sterling service, but may be time to get a better energry rated one?

It's probably all a dreadful capitalist plot to keep the spares market short of vital items to force the consumers to spend more ... or something like that!

Many thanks to all who responded.
